Are you a "River Liver" in Central Oregon? Lucky you!
You live along waterfront property in a special place where beaver have evolved harmoniously with other river species and shaped Deschutes River land and waterways over eons of time.
Your neighbors, river goers and many other wildlife species appreciate the benefits that beaver bring to this riverine landscape.
Nature's Little Engineers can be a Nuisance
Beavers are invaluable to the health and biodiversity of our lands and waterways. Unfortunately, their behavior can damage human made property and infrastructure.
But removing nuisance beavers is a temporary fix, not a real solution. If you remove one beaver, another will be along shortly to take it's place. This is not an accident. Nature will always find a way to fill a void.
Often a better, longer term solution exists - to adapt your landscape and infrastructure to the river ecology – keeping trees and infrastructure intact and beavers continuing to do what they do benefiting the river inhabitants along the way.
Contact our Beaver Response Team to learn how.
PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS EXIST FOR THESE COMMON CHALLENGES
TREE DAMAGE OR FELLING
* Protective fencing or ‘sand point’ solutions when aesthetics matter
* Vegetation buffer zones that ‘make the right thing easy, and the wrong thing hard’
* Landscaping with the tree species distasteful to beaver
A ‘water flow device’ allows water to pass ‘through’ the beaver dam, keeping water levels at acceptable heights to prevent flooding
Prevent culvert blockage – and backed up flows - with beaver exclusion fencing
